It works by creating a negative pressure that prevents the contaminants from going inside the room. After this, the hazardous air passes from the internal ductwork and is expelled outside through the exhaust fan, which can be easily found at the top of the building’s roof. In this way, the users can protect themselves from harmful substances.

Down flowing Fume Hood

Down flowing fume hood also stands for downdraft fume hood. It pulls the air downward by means of the work surface in order to capture the hazardous fume, dust, and vapors that can harm the user. After this, it gives clean and safe air from the top or back of the unit, which helps in maintaining the continuity of the airflow.

This way, a user becomes safe from inhaling the harmful air. The down flowing fume draws the contaminated air through the filter, which is HEPA or activated carbon, or is recirculated (by ductless mode) or is vented externally (by the ductless models).
